About Rashtriya Military Schools
Rashtriya Military Schools were initially established in the year 1925 as King George’s Royal Military Schools with the aim of imparting free and quality education to the sons of Defence Personnel (JCOs/OR and equivalent only) including ex-servicemen who unable to take educational care of their wards due to worldwide dedicated defence services and prepare the cadets to join the Indian Armed Forces as Officers.
The Schools were re-structured on the basis of Public Schools and admission for wards of Defence Service Officers and Civilians opened in the year 1952. The Schools were re-named as Military Schools in 1966 and its logo “Play the Game” replaced with “Sheelem Param Bhushanam”. Finally the schools have been recognized as “Rashtriya Military School” on 25 Jun 2007.
Rashtriya Military Schools are fully residential English-medium Schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). They prepare students for Class X and XII CBSE board examinations and also groom the Cadets for the UPSC examinations for entry into NDA. There are five Rastriya Military Schools located at Chail (Himachal Pradesh), Ajmer and Dholpur (Rajasthan), Belgaum and Bengaluru (Karnataka).
The primary aim of these Schools is “to impart quality education and prepare the Cadets to join the National Defence Academy.

Eligibility
For Class VI: Candidates must be between 10-12 years of age as on 31 March 2026 (born between 01 April 2014 and 31 March 2016). They should have passed or be studying in Class V at the time of admission.
For Class IX: Candidates must be between 13-15 years of age as on 31 March 2026 (born between 01 April 2011 and 31 March 2013). They must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school.
Six months relaxation is applicable to the wards of War Widow of JCOs/OR or equivalent killed in action
Admission Process
Admission will be based on the Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by an interview. The written test will be OMR-based.

Note : Question papers of class VI will be in By-liengual (English or Hindi/Regional Language) and class IX will be in English only.
Admission Procedure
Admission is made strictly in the order of merit on the basis of Common Entrance Test including weight of interview held once in a year.
The candidates who qualify in the CET according to prescribed standards are called for medical in a ratio of 1:3 keeping in view the number of vacancies available followed by an interview by respective schools. Finally admission is subject to the candidates found medically fit according to medical standard prescribed for entry to National Defence Academy.
